How to choose fireproof wooden file cabinets
September 28, 2009
What are you going to store in your wooden file cabinets and where are you going to be using it, theses are the two main questions you need to ask yourself when you are looking to buy a new filing cabinet.
If you are going to use the filing cabinet in an office then something that is practical and does the job may be more important than the look and design. If however you are using it in a home office then you might like to consider using a wooden file cabinet that looks stylish but still has all the security and storage space you need.
If you are storing mainly paper in your filing cabinets then you should look at the draws and make sure they can take files but should you be mainly storing computer disks then you can go for something smaller and more discrete, this can also save you a lot of money as you do not need to pay for the extra features of a larger file system.
You may need a fireproof file cabinet so that should you have a fire in the office your files are more likely to survive, many cabinets are available that can survive at high temperatures for an hour or more.
So before you buy your new file cabinet you need to consider the location and use for the cabinet as this will influence your buying decisions and how much you need to spend to get the right file cabinet for your needs.
